Holy Week and Easter 2024

Good Friday Worship and Contemplation Options

Good Friday Liturgies - Worship on Friday, March 29, will be at both 12:00 noon and 7:00 pm. The services will be quite different.

* At 12:00 noon, we will make the journey with Jesus from the judgement hall to the grave using the ancient liturgy of the Stations of the Cross. The service will be a spoken one, held in the Fellowship Hall. The church will be open from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm for you to mark the day of Jesus' triumph on the cross through a variety of means -- artwork, prayer stations, an opportunity for individual confession and forgiveness, a healing station, and much more. One can take in as many or as few stations across the midday as one wishes. The service, however, will be held promptly at 12:00 noon, lasting about half an hour.

* At 7:00 pm, we will worship with the reading of St. John's Passion, choral music, hymns, prayers, the procession and veneration of the cross, candle-lighting, and silent reflection. The service will last about an hour. Feel free to attend at both times, as each service will offer a different way to worship on this most significant of days in the Church Year. We hope you will invite and encourage those in your circle of friends to join us.

We are part of a bigger church

There is a place for you here.

We are a church that shares a living, daring confidence in God's grace. Liberated by our faith, we embrace you as a whole person - questions, complexities and all. Join us as we do God's work in Christ's name for the life of the world.

God's Work. Our hands.

St. Mark's is a member of the ELCA,

or the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

A merger of three Lutheran churches formed the ELCA in 1988.

They were The American Lutheran Church,

the Association of Evangelical Lutheran Churches and

the Lutheran Church in America.

Now, 35 years later, as members of the ELCA,

we believe that we are freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor.

With our hands, we do God's work of restoring and reconciling communities in Jesus Christ's name throughout the world.
